With just a single 140mm rear exhaust fan, we weren't expecting chart-topping results, although large cases such as this usually do relatively well regardless. A CPU delta T of 52°C is roughly middle of the pack and a degree cooler than the even more monstrous Core P90, but we really can't read too much into the air-cooled temperature here given that you'd have to be slightly mad to buy this case for its stock air cooling. The result was only 6°C off our best CPU delta T result anyway.
The GPU delta T was a little more competitive, again thanks to a massive chamber full of relatively cool air, and again the result was similar to other large cases such as the Core P90 and Cooler Master Cosmos C700P. This just about makes it into the top third of results, but we doubt anyone will have an air-cooled graphics card in their Level 20 XT system. In many ways the Level 20 XT is a lot like its predecessor in the Core X series. It's a blank canvas and less of a complete-feeling case due to the fact its massive size and vacant fan mounts mean it does look incomplete without a monstrous water-cooling system inside it. However, we like what Thermaltake has done as the Core X series was certainly not going to win any beauty contests. The Level 20 XT is much more attractive and more solid feeling too.
There are a few niggles such as the gaps in its dust defences, potentially awkwardly placed front panel, and, as you can see above, some of the unattractive machined and drilled support beams could do with some covers, as they stick out like sore thumbs compared to the jazzed up exterior. However, it costs a fraction of the other big boys out there such as the SilverStone TJ11 and Corsair 1000D, yet it can house all the cooling you could ever need. The only competition in this price range comes from more refined tower cases such as the Phanteks Enthoo Evolv X, which has enough water-cooling potential for most HEDT overclocked setups. If needs must, though, and you have several dozen massive radiators that need a new home, the Level 20 XT is ready and willing.
The Level 20 XT is also the case that five modders are going head to head with in the Thermaltake UK Modding Trophy 2018, which we are hosting. Make sure you check it out and follow the progress!
